Challenges

Timetable and staging of the introduction of TMS is defined by SBB Infrastructure. All standard gauge RUs in Switzerland have to stick to the introduction plan in order to stay in position to order tracks.

Swiss RUs are faced with the following challenges in the context of the introduction of TMS and R2P.

TMS Challenges

  • The time table of the introduction is given by SBB Infrastructure, dates are already fixed.
  • The cooperation with SBB Infrastructure changes fundamentally.
  • Each version of TMS (e.g. CM1) is introduced as «Big Bang». All Swiss RUs have to be ready at the release date.
  • Many Swiss RUs are not yet aware of the scope and efforts of the introduction of TMS.
  • There are several migration path options possible. The recurring annual expense varies greatly, depending on the option chosen.

R2P Challenges

Activities currently executed by SBB Infrastructure have to be taken over by Swiss RUs.

The following RU-RU communication elements are no longer provided by SBB Infrastructure and have to be taken over by the RUs. Additionally the RUs have to provide extended information.

  • Coordination of plannings between involved RUs
  • Additional informations of the time table (route, times, calendar)
  • Additional information of time table / route (e.g. business case)
  • Additional information of the traffic
  • New: Coordination of the TAF/TAP-TSI Objects ReferenceTrain and Route
